🧠 Professor Yukari Fujimoto interviews us
Yukari Fujimoto is a renowned Japanese researcher and critic, professor in the Department of Japanese International Studies at Meiji University in Tokyo. A global reference in manga studies and gender theory, she specializes in investigating female representations in the media, shōjo manga (aimed at young female audiences), and the Boys' Love (BL) genre. Her work examines how these narratives challenge gender and sexuality norms, contributing to contemporary social discussions. She also serves as a judge for awards such as the Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize and is widely recognized for connecting Japanese pop culture to relevant themes in today's society.
💕 Distinguished visit by João Silvério Trevisan
João Silvério Trevisan is a writer, filmmaker, screenwriter, translator, and LGBT+ activist, born in 1944 in Ribeirão Bonito (SP). He is one of the pioneers of gay literature in Brazil and a reference in the fight for civil rights. He founded the SOMOS group and the newspaper O Lampião da Esquina, landmarks of the homosexual movement in the 1970s. Author of works such as Devassos no Paraíso, Ana em Veneza, and Pai, Pai, he explores themes such as sexuality, identity, religion, exile, and family relationships. His writing blends fiction, autobiography, and essays, with a strong political and poetic dimension. Recognized with awards such as Jabuti and APCA, Trevisan also worked in marginal cinema and had his works censored during the dictatorship. He is one of the most influential voices in Brazilian LGBT+ culture.

Vórtice Cultural's editorial proposal was to promote independent publications created by Brazilian artists with themes related to diversity, sexuality, pornography, and fetishes. Our ongoing goal is to offer an inclusive platform that celebrates creativity and artistic freedom, highlighting marginalized voices and promoting relevant and bold debates.

In our twenty-first exhibition and third edition of Brazil's largest festival of sexuality in contemporary art, we exceeded our expectations in terms of the number of artists, exhibition space, and media reach.
