🧠 Professor Yukari Fujimoto interviews us

Last Wednesday (June 2), we had the honor of being interviewed by Prof. Yukari Fujimoto at the Center for Japanese-Brazilian Studies, located at the headquarters of the Brazilian Society of Japanese Culture and Social Welfare (Bunkyo)! 🧠

Yukari Fujimoto is a renowned Japanese researcher and critic, professor in the Department of Japanese International Studies at Meiji University in Tokyo. A global reference in manga studies and gender theory, she investigates female representations in the media, shōjo manga (aimed at young female audiences), and the Boys' Love (BL) genre. Her work examines how these narratives challenge gender and sexuality norms, contributing to contemporary social discussions. She also serves as a judge for awards such as the Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize and is widely recognized for connecting Japanese pop culture to relevant themes in today's society.

In the late afternoon, Fujimoto presented his research on the Boys' Love genre, the result of several trips around the world.

We thank Cozy Enrique for this very special and meaningful connection! 🩷
