A living and constantly expanding collection, with approximately 400 titles including photography books, art books, exhibition catalogs, and independent publications that explore sexuality, eroticism, and pornography.

Comprised largely of rare and out-of-print works, it also gathers recent releases from Europe, the United States, and Latin America, broadening the dialogue with contemporary issues and poetics.

Origin and (R)existence

The Vórtice Library originated from the donation of the collection of Carlos Hermano Brasil de Almeida (★ Teresina, PI, 1968 – ✝️ Recife, PE, 2016), who, for three decades, devoted himself to assembling a collection of paintings, sculptures, photographs, postcards, magazines, and books that celebrate the masculine and gay universe. This collection, expanded by continuous public contributions and titles from our own curation, is now consolidated as an important reference hub.

Our library is a significant step in expanding aesthetic sensibilities and reaffirms our commitment to valuing multiple narratives in the field of arts.
