The largest platform in Latin America dedicated to artistic explorations of the body, desire, and sexuality.
Based in São Paulo, the Vórtice Festival brings together artists from different parts of the world whose works engage with the politics of the body, intimacy, identity, and freedom. Through an art exhibition that includes performances, music, and public programs, the event creates a space where contemporary art confronts one of the most complex and universal dimensions of human experience: sexuality.
Since its founding in 2022, the Vórtice Festival Vórtice presented works by more than 250 artists from over 10 countries. The festival has attracted an in-person audience of more than 8,000 visitors and generated millions of online views, establishing itself as a prominent platform on the international contemporary art scene.

Brazil occupies a unique place in the global imagination when it comes to the body, sexuality, and cultural expression.
Since the earliest human societies on the continent, the body has been central to forms of ritual, community, and artistic expression. From Carnival to contemporary queer culture, Brazil has always been a space where artistic experimentation, political tension, and social transformation meet.
At a time when debates about gender, identity, and freedom are intensifying around the world, Brazil offers a powerful context for artists working with themes such as desire, intimacy, and pornography— and we are not afraid to engage in these conversations.
The Vórtice Festival Vórtice from this cultural landscape as a platform for dialogue between local and international perspectives.
-
Participating artists become part of a growing international network that explores the intersections between art, sexuality, and contemporary culture.
The Vórtice Festival Vórtice :
one of the world's largest platforms dedicated to the topic
dialogue between artists from different countries
contact with a diverse audience
a curatorial environment open to experimental and provocative works
-
All forms of artistic expression will be accepted, including painting, photography, performance art, publications, and audiovisual productions.
-
No. All submissions undergo a curatorial selection process. There is no fee to submit your work; only artists whose works are selected will be required to pay the participation fee.
The process is quite competitive, as each year we receive more than 200 applications from Brazilian artists alone.
Approval notification: between March 30 and April 12.
-
Once selected, a fee of R$300 will be charged. This fee covers part of the production costs.
At present, the project receives no external funding and is sustained through the collective support of the participating artists.
The participation fee helps cover the exhibition’s production costs, as well as the general expenses required to organize and present the exhibition, which runs throughout the month of June.
By participating in the project, you not only contribute to making the exhibition possible, but also help to promote and give visibility to artistic practices that are often marginalized and rarely have adequate spaces for presentation.
-
The Vórtice Festival Vórtice an independent curatorial platform dedicated to contemporary artistic practices that investigate sexuality as a cultural, political, and aesthetic field.
The festival accepts works that:
explore desire, intimacy, and erotic imagination
question norms related to gender, queer culture, and identity
address body politics
challenge moral and social boundaries
investigate sexuality through experimental artistic languages
-
Participation in the festival does not require artists to be physically present at the exhibition or to take part in online activities.
Artists can choose the level of involvement that best suits their circumstances, and the inclusion of their works in the exhibition is independent of their presence or participation in discussions.
The festival’s focus remains on the exchange of ideas, images, and artistic practices.

Desire has always shaped art—and art has always challenged the limits imposed on desire.
The Vórtice Festival Vórtice a space for artists willing to confront these boundaries, exploring sexuality not as a taboo, but as a field of imagination, politics, and cultural transformation.
We invite people from around the world to bring their insights, questions, and provocations to Brazil—and to become part of this expanding international conversation.
