✊🏻 Exhibition at the Cultural Center for Diversity vandalized
We are very happy to facilitate the donation of 12 works to the Cultural Center of Diversity 🌈
The exhibition "Minh'Alma Cativa" (My Captive Soul), curated by Ana Carla Soler, brings together 13 artists from a wide range of disciplines at the Décio de Almeida Prado Theater. Among them, four participated in the 1st Homoerotic Art Salon, which took place during Pride Month here at Vórtice.
The works speak of affection and the connections formed and maintained between people and souls. They address affection, touch, and desires that are often hidden or invisible in contemporary society, marked by homophobia.
During the assembly of the exhibition, six works were vandalized, and part of the structure was damaged. In conversation with the artists, we decided to keep the works that record the violence of the iconoclastic act and will proceed with the opening of the exhibition in resistance! ✊🏻
Just like the lyrics of the song from which we borrowed the excerpt "Minh'alma Cativa" (My Captive Soul), this exhibition sings the journey of bodies considered deviant, which do not follow the paths or norms imposed upon them. Together, they "break treaties and betray rituals" and, through their "crooked paths," refuse to be defeated!
Being part of building the collection of the first complex dedicated exclusively to LGBT+ culture in Brazil—a place of free expression, acceptance, and celebration of our differences, ideas, and identities—opened in 2019 by André Fischer, brings us great enthusiasm and strength to fight.
