DESIRE MANIFESTO
We were never a straight line. From the beginning, we were a Vórtice: a spiral force that blends and reinvents, blurs categories, dissolves boundaries, and shifts centers. We persist against norms, committed to giving form to what is attempted to be erased, reaffirming our alliance with visceral and inalienable freedom of expression.
In times of moral surveillance and symbolic censorship, when the world once again raises its rulebooks, Vórtice positions itself against discourses that domesticate the sensitive and hierarchize affections — not out of mere rebellion, but because we know that desire is sovereign. It manifests in the body, though not limited to it. It circulates through each work, takes shape as language, and invites us to other ourselves.
We act because we desire.
In this fourth edition, we bring together 123 participants from seven countries — artists and collectives — with works that challenge certainties. These are people who create from diverse impulses, aware that freedom is a state built by existing publicly with integrity, not a granted right. They transform luxury into plasticity, dissidence into aesthetics, and understand risk as part of the inherent tension of artistic creation. No one here apologizes: however regulated it may be, the body is still the purest space for invention.
If they still ask if this is art, perhaps the question should be different: what is being silenced when its artistic nature is denied? What is at stake when it is decided what can or cannot be appreciated?
Vórtice does not offer easy answers. It insists. And the more they try to contain it, the more it opens up and consumes everything around it. Desire — that, indeed — is our manifest destiny. It's not about fulfilling a destiny, but about making it pulsate.
